The era of Giacometti, from Chagall to Kandinsky

until 05/04/2020, Palazzo della Gran Guardia - Verona

Alberto Giacometti was one of the major twentieth-century sculptors and, for some time now, has been the most quoted on the international auction market.

This exhibition originates from the idea of paying tribute to him in Italy and was organized thanks to the decisive collaboration of the Aimé and Marguerite Maeght Foundation in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, which has loaned over seventy of his works, including his most famous sculptures, drawings and paintings.

From his youth in Switzerland with his first wonderful drawings at a little over ten years of age, to his inaugural sculptures at around 15, from his surrealist attempts and then the works of his adult years.

The exhibition especially aims to re-evoke one of the most extraordinary cultural adventures in Europe from the mid-1900s on, among Kandinsky and Miró, Léger and Chagall, Braque and Giacometti.
