Arina Pouzoullic: The Next Generation of Collectors

«I have a dream: to make jewellery “sit” around a table with other artistic disciplines, such as painting, sculpture and visual arts, and start a conversation between those arts that occur in physical space and time.

Since the Middle Ages, jewelley has always been linked to other creative disciplines, influenced by the fashion, art, geography, customs, society and political agendas of a specific period, retaining a significance beyond that of a mere decorative object.

At every moment in the history of jewellery, its art has been redefined and its references have changed in intensity while always adding something new. And this evolution is still going on today, thanks to the creative diversity, technical ability and plurality of the offer.

A new category of collectors is emerging, demanding authentic, rare, exclusive, but also modern and timeless pieces. And the people who are able to meet this new demand are independent designers, although they are still a niche compared to the rest of the market offer. It is their talent and capacity to build the future legacy of contemporary jewellery that makes the difference and the designers I represent in my Second Petale gallery are doing exactly that.

Of course, their creative language, identity and style are different, ranging from high jewellery to pop, but they are all united by excellent craftsmanship which allows them to challenge the status quo, to make the impossible possible, to have limitless creativity.

Marie Cabirou from Marie Mas for her kinetic and constantly moving jewellery; Luz Camino for making her creations appear “alive” and real; Salima Thakker for the curiosity that fuels everything she creates; Paola Brussino for her pioneering vision and use of intriguing and unconventional materials in high jewellery. And all of them, together, take the conversation further, towards a new era, exactly the same as art, which inspires, teaches, elevates.»
